Group Updates

One group engine.
Multiple specialist brands.

What is Powered by Cavalry?

Powered by Cavalry is the shared identity behind the wider Cavalry Group.

It brings together the people, teams and expertise that help support the work happening across the group every day, from recruitment, HR and finance to marketing, technology, leadership and operational support. The brand exists to better connect the wider network behind the scenes, while still allowing every company to retain its own identity, specialism and purpose.

It also reflects the way the group works together. Different parts of Cavalry support and strengthen one another through shared knowledge, training, consultancy, operational expertise and collaboration, helping people feel more connected to the wider mission behind the work they do.

Stanley Bungalows launch

On 30th July, we officially opened a specialist supported living development in Merseyside, after transforming a once-derelict historic site into six homes designed to support people with complex care needs.

The launch event at Stanley Bungalows in Prescot welcomed commissioners, social workers, healthcare professionals, partners and members of the local community to experience the newly completed development, tour the homes and meet the teams behind the project.

Bigdale service launch

We had a very successful launch of our Bigdale service in Kirkby, with attendance from Local Authorities, Commissioners and individuals looking for their forever home.

It was a fantastic day. A huge thank you to Antonia and Lyndsey for their huge effort in making sure the properties were spic and span and ready to open, and to everyone who helped organise this.

Lakeland Gardens Achieves Good in Full Ofsted Inspection

Following an unannounced two-day Ofsted inspection on 4–5 June, Lakeland Gardens has been rated Good across all areas, including How Well Children Are Helped and Protected and Leadership & Management.

Inspectors praised the team's commitment, resilience and care, commenting that “you could not have done anymore” for the young person supported and highlighting the excellent multi-agency working and management oversight in place.

This is a significant achievement given the complexity of the needs being supported and reflects the dedication of the entire team. Special recognition goes to Michelle Ward, whose person-centred leadership, compassion and unwavering support have been instrumental in this success.

Recruitment and development

Toto Homes is recruiting across several new children's homes, promoting a Refer a Friend scheme with a £150 referral bonus, and offering a Manager Development Programme for aspiring leaders.

From January to May, QOLCOE delivered 460 hours of direct PBS support and 64 hours of training across the group.

A new programme is being developed for rollout before year-end, specifically for team leaders and managers. It focuses on completing initial functional assessments, understanding what a person is communicating through behaviours of concern, and better analysing ABC and other data.

The aim is to shift the focus from “How do we stop this behaviour?” to “What does this person need?”

QOLCOE is also implementing sufficient PBS courses to train all staff over the next two years.
